Week 3 - Make Your Own Instrument

Hey WES! This week, we are asking you to create your own instrument! Use the videos below as a guide or to get some ideas before you go crazy and think up your own fabulous creations! Keep in mind, these are only a FEW of the possibilities. Create something you can practice and play on, and then write a composition you can perform!


When you're done, post a video or photo of what you've created as a comment to this blog post, on your class's Facebook page, or in an email to Mrs. Braunagel or Ms. Arnold. We can't wait to see what you make!


Pie Tin Percussion:

Pie tin

Filler (rice, dried beans, pebbles)






Paper Plate Percussion:

Paper plates (2)

Filler (rice, dried beans, pebbles)

Tape





Tap-a-taps/Sandpaper Blocks:

Any two hard/backed objects







Bottle Flute:

Plastic pop/water bottle, cap removed

Liquid (optional)






Drinking Straw Double Reed:

Plastic straw

Scissors






Drinking Straw Slide Woodwind:

Plastic straw (2)

Scissors

Tape





Drinking Straw Oboe:

Plastic Straw

Scissors







Tube Shaker

Paper Tube (toilet paper, paper towel)

Filler (rice, dried beans, pebbles)

Tape

Paper




Cup Shaker:

Disposable cups (2)

Filler (rice, dried beans, pebbles)

Tape





Glass Xylophone:

Glass cups/glasses, various sizes

Strikers (straw, pencil, wooden spoon, metal spoon)--be careful with whatever you use!

Water
