Phantom of the Opera

Did you know that there is a Broadway play centered around an opera? In The Phantom of the Opera the story follows the life of Christine Daae, a chorus singer at the French Opera Populaire. She studies with a mysterious voice teacher who turns out to the be opera house's phantom. Much mischief occurs when Christine reunites with a childhood friend and falls in love, but who does she choose? Fun fact: This is the longest running show on Broadway and it still plays to this day!


Mama Will Provide

From the hit Broadway Once on this Island we get to hear the story of Ti Moune! A story of two worlds, separated by race where the gods decide to have a wager on who will win: Love against Death. Ti Moune falls in love with a stranger (Daniel) from the other side of the island and gives her own life to save his. In this song we see the Goddess Asaka singing to Ti Moune about how she will provide for Ti Moune's journey to reunite with Daniel.

Defying Gravity

Did you know there is a THIRD musical that uses the story line from The Wizard of Oz? Wicked is actually the prequel to the story, and focuses on how Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch, came to know each other and became “wicked” and “good.”


Where is Love?

Oliver! is based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist. 9-year-old orphan Oliver Twist escapes the orphanage and meets a group of pickpockets and their leader. Oliver is assigned to steal from Mr. Brownlow, who ends up offering Oliver a place to live, but Bill Sikes, the mastermind begin the pickpocket crew, plots to kidnap Oliver to keep him from revealing the truth about his criminal activity.
